Josephine Lilly Wolf Memorial Scholarship Foundation Candidates Selected

OUR 2021 STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SELECTED!

We’re absolutely thrilled to recognize Anthony Beckford, Macy-Ann Taylor, and Keeno-Lee James as our 2021 Josephine Lilly Wolf Memorial Scholarship Foundation recipients!

Typically the recipients are selected each year at an in-person interview with our team in Jamaica! But this year, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we held online interviews for our scholarship candidates.

ANTHONY BECKFORD Anthony’s motto has always been, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts,” and this attitude has made the difference for Anthony’s success as a leader at Manning’s School. As a member of the 4H club, the Debate Club, and the Math, Science, and Tourism Action Club, he has an impressive list of curricula. He was also the vice president of the Inter-School Christian Fellowship, as well as president of the Performing Arts Society, Peer Counselling Society, Student Council, and a youth councilor of Northern Savanna La Mar.

Anthony will be attending the University of the West Indies, where he will be pursuing a degree in medicine. He one day hopes to become a medical doctor to significantly improve indiscriminate healthcare across the world.

KEENO-LEE JAMES Keeno-Lee is no stranger to academic excellence and perseverance while studying at Manning’s School. As an active member of the Key Club, Quiz Club, Junior Debating Society, Peer Counseling Society, Student Council, and a senior prefect and the school’s deputy head boy, he has taken on numerous leadership roles while developing a love for volunteering and advocacy. On top of his impressive lists of activities, Keeno-Lee has also received awards from Key Club Jamaica District and Key Club International as a distinguished secretary and president, distinguished national senior advisor, and most recently distinguished lieutenant governor of excellence where he was responsible for the schools in the parishes of Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, and Manchester.

Keeno-Lee will be attending Mico University in Kingston, Jamaica where he will be studying for his Bachelor of Science degree in guidance and counseling.

MACY-ANN TAYLOR Macy-Ann’s favorite quote, “ The struggle you’re facing today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow,” has instilled a passion and thirst for success that has driven her through hard times. Her excellence in academics from an early age continued while she was a student at Manning’s School. Macy-Ann was a member of the Key Club, Girls Guide Club, and the Inter-school Christian fellowship, as well as a four-year track athlete where she represented her institution twice at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championship. In addition to her school involvement, she was also the Executive Secretary for the Jamaica Innovators Youth-Vision for Change and a recipient of the Golden Rule JA Scholarship.

Macy-Ann will be attending the University of the West Indies to pursue a degree in business with dreams of becoming a Human Resource Manager.

The Josephine Lilly Wolf Memorial Foundation was created to positively impact Jamaican youth and share Josephine’s love for education by providing full-tuition scholarships to graduating students of Manning’s High School. The success of our foundation will be measured by improvements in the quality of life of scholarship recipients, and their selection of service-oriented careers that will positively impact social justice in Jamaica.

The Josephine Lilly Wolf Memorial Scholarship Foundation was started by Josephine’s stepfather, Shayne Havens, and is currently based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. For more information about Josephine’s story and her legacy, visit: https://www.jlwmsf.org/
